BREAKWATER VOLUNTEERS

PROJECT BREAKWATER

From the Editors:

Thank you so very much for being willing to give your time and effort and probably a big chunk of your heart.
I don't know how this is going to work out.  I will mail to all the Eastern and Central European countries mostly involved on my list, and experience shows me to then keep on mailing from time to time.  It may take some time to trickle down.

And, as someone pointed out to me, first needs first -- just to get people settled.  We may still be in that phase and Volunteers may not have energy to reach out.

Let me know if there are any problems or if you and your colleagues have any other suggestions.

-- Molly

For Becca Thatcher, M.S.W. and Molly Rawle, M.S.W.

VOLUNTEER LIST
We will continue to update this list. If you sent us your name and contact information and don't see it here, please let us know.

VOLUNTEERS: Please list your contact information, any brief description of yourself you think would be helpful, any parameters you wish to include.

Include your phone number if you wish.  Our instinct is that phone numbers might cause problems. We have kept your emails and will add them back in if necessary.
But it is fine to give out your phone number when you make contact with a volunteer.

Important considerations:
We are working on the issues of Translation and will let you all know what we find out.
Also, remember the time difference --- some of you have named a time which might be in the middle of the night in Central and Eastern Europe.

Dear Volunteers in Countries hosting Ukrainian Refugees,

NO FEE
PARTICIPANTS ARRANGE THE TERMS

People have volunteered to be a source of support to you for issues raised by the difficult work you are doing.  We thank you for this work and want you to have someone to talk to.

Below is a simple list of names with their contact information.  Important:  Put “Breakwater” in the subject line.  That way the individual receiving the email will know what it is about.  Tell them what you are doing, what country you are in and that you need some support.
After that you both can arrange to talk and how, if by email, or if by skype or some other online presence.

You are welcome to do this more than once and all volunteers agree to both of your privacy and to your right to move on if you feel it is not working out for you.

Heide Dr. Anger <heide.anger@aon.at>

To present myself shortly
I am a Psychiatrist, Gestalttherapist, certified  traumatherapist (DeGPT) and experienced in accompanying war refugees and their first aiders.
What I thought might be useful is to offer consultation hours on a weekly base for the trainees in order to get or keep them grounded and solid.
I imagine to sit at my computer and have people come in via ZOOM who had before registered in their local institutes from whom they had received my ZOOM invitation. 10-20 participants are welcome and they should register until Monday for the current week.
This would be (mostly) on Thursdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
I would offer mini lectures to better understanding of what goes on in their clients, physically, mentally, emotionally and than be open up to work on cases or personal needs of the helpers..
The main thing is to be there for professional support.

On-Line Crisis Support Group
I am offering an online support group for gestalt therapists affected by the war in Ukraine.
Contact me at dan.bloom@me.com for the day and time.

My name is Marina. I am a gestalt therapist from Yerevan, Armenia. I'd like to support the other volunteers. Recently (1.5 years ago) we have experienced 44 days war. Since the first days of war I have been working with the anxiety, fears, safety issues, trauma and other issues related to it. I have been taught how to work with crisis situations from other colleagues. Also, I have developed my own self support system during the war and after it. I can share it with others. So I have experienced the War from different sides. I can be a listening ear for other volunteers, support an intervision group and suggest one or more vebinars related to trauma, anxiety , body oriented work with them, care for caregivers, etc. These are my ideas for now. I really know what is compassion fatigue.
Languages -English, Russian. Though I am not fluent in English, but I think it won't be an obstacle.
